It is with the deepest sadness that we write to let you know that we have cancelled our 2020 season. We so wanted to spend our last season sailing on the incomparable Riggin with you all, but life had other plans for us.
The crux of the matter is that the bulk of you are having a difficult, if not impossible, time complying with the testing requirements to enter the State of Maine. Of course, as you might imagine, there are so many other considerations – all with everyone’s safety and comfort in mind. In the end, while fewer guests aboard allows for greater social distancing, it doesn’t make financial sense to proceed any further.
Justin Schaefer and Jocelyn Schmidt, the future owners of the Riggin, are a wonderful couple and will be fine stewards of your daily and extraordinary experiences aboard the Riggin. They will take ownership of the Riggin in early October and we have every confidence in them.
After we’ve had a chance to breathe, we’ll communicate some ideas and thoughts about how we can all stay connected and how we might still celebrate our last season, albeit in a very different way than originally expected.
