A picture is worth a thousand words and photography is the universal language. It’s also a lot of fun! Join this year’s photography trip, led by local, husband and wife photographers, Sean and Tracy Sheppard. The Sheppard’s will help you improve your photography skills whether a phone camera, point and shoot, or a DSLR they will help you learn more about your camera’s features.
The Schooner J. & E. Riggin’s sailing grounds are one of the most exquisite in the world – islands dotted with green spruce and the soft gray of the granite shores. The snug harbors, glorious natural colors, and spectacular light are unmatched any place else on earth. There is an abundance of outdoor photo opportunities including other windjammers, Maine lighthouses, wildlife including bald eagles, osprey, porpoise, and harbor seals.
The group lessons, where you will learn basic photo skills such as composition, lighting and basic camera operation, will be geared more toward the beginner photographer and scattered throughout the trip. All skill level photographers are welcome to participate as the views are stunning not matter your level of experience. You are welcome to follow the instructor’s itinerary or do your own thing. Sean and Tracy will be around to answer any questions and provide personal coaching throughout the trip.
We look forward to welcoming all who love photography, sailing, and all the Maine coast has to offer. All you will need is your choice of camera and a of adventure.
About Your Photography Instructors
Sean & Tracy Sheppard are a husband and wife team of professional photographers who also have a passion for the local fleet of schooners in Midcoast Maine. Both accomplished photographers, they are looking forward to sharing their passions for photography & this fantastic coastline with you!
Sean is more of a technical photographer, focused on getting everything right from the get-go. He has a passion for landscape and nature photography and loves to incorporate his love of the environment and natural light into every photography he creates. Tracy on the other hand finds ways of capturing the emotion of the moments. She is a natural light photographer and prefers photographing outside versus in a studio and loves to photograph small, forgotten details in the world that tend to be overlooked.
